Benie's film explores identity, home and naturalisation using the air carnation as a powerful symbol of growing without roots. She says, "it blurs distinctions between the social and the personal by showing how a guerilla garden is helping individuals and communities to expand their sense of belonging by coming together and crafting new metaphors to live by."
